about

‘Light Colours In Jyderup’ is a trademark Marta Forsberg composition – in a relatively short space of time, the Swedish-Polish composer is able to transform the simplest of sonic materials into the most magical, transcendent experience. Using only vocals and some effects, she makes a couple of students from a tiny Danish town sound both alien and medieval; the way the piece unfolds is graceful, its tone and feeling is sacred yet warm, like a Christmas carol from an alternate, minimalist universe. “I still find these voices so close and vulnerable, it’s very touching,” shares Marta Forsberg, reflecting on this piece 4 years after it was written. Featuring the voices of Lasse Laurentius Nolsøe Lund and Kelley Rose imitating the sounds of a violin, ‘Light Colours In Jyderup’ marked the beginning of Marta Forsberg’s explorations of the voice as an instrument. We are thrilled to be sharing the newly mixed and mastered audio version of this piece (which was originally an installation) on a limited edition of 111 cassettes and all streaming platforms.

"Light Colours in Jyderup transcends specifics, eschewing words for something more universally meaningful." – Bandcamp Daily

"...totally spellbinding." – The Quietus

"...blossoms into a series of choirs and drones, becoming positively lush while showcasing the dynamically malleable nature of the human voice." - First Floor
